New Installation: What to expect

If you have been a Smithville customer at your location and now want to reinstate your service, the entire process should take 3-5 days from request- possibly faster. Sometimes the new connection is handled straight from our central office and simply requires an electronic command. Either way, we do it right the first time.

Sometimes new construction is required: with the new fiber rings of digital services we are building, you may be asking for a service that's in process or needing wiring in and through your home or business. Our engineering department has up-to-the-moment records that allow us to carefully provide you a firm estimation of the time anticipated for installation. We don't believe in the calculation of.."what if and maybe so." Most often new construction takes 7-14 business days from your request. Sounds like record time? We always try to break down the barriers.

My first bill after installation:

Your service bill following origination will include the following, we want no surprises because we know how important budget is these days: You are charged one month in advance along with your install fee. We make these fees as little as is possible. Your bill reflects a cost that begins the day your service is turned on- not a day before.

What are the "Intrastate" and the "Interstate" charges I see on my bill? - I don't have Long Distance service!

This is a good question and one that is outside Smithville's authority of decision. These are referred to as carrier fees- ones we collect from all customers and send to a regulatory pool defined by the FCC and supported by the state commission. These consolidated fees from the pool are distribution to all network providers in the USA. We do believe in this proven business process of Universal Service because it offsets the high cost of broadband services and the massive buildout Telco's are doing and keeps all your telecommunications rates extremely competitive so that all Americans can have affordable telecommunications services.

I'm thinking of getting 3.0 Internet speed for my business:

Smithville can provide you some extraordinary services for your business. We are happy to help you find solutions for increased capacity, speed and will design a plan that can work for your needs individually. Currently we do not have a 3.0 option - let us discuss another alternative!

I'm looking for Unlimited Calling for my Business:

We do not currently offer an unlimited calling plan for business customers. We do have some very attractive and popular calling plans for customers. If you are interested in letting our representatives help you study your calling patterns and ways to expand your budget please give us a call. Some restrictions apply.

Where I live I can't yet get Hi-speed Internet - why?

Broadband across America is coming at amazing speeds to Smithville customers. We can report to you that the percentage of folks who can get Hi-speed Internet from Smithville beats the statistics within Indiana and even the entire country! We anticipated the need for capacity and began adding fiber optics and digital investments to make this possible.

There are yet some distant areas from our switch facility and plant that will not yet accommodate Hi-speed Internet. It's about distance and rural terrain. We are committed to Hi-Speed Internet for all our customers and every day increase our reach.

Can I take Smithville with me wherever I go? Can you be everywhere AT&T is?

Smithville is a carrier of voice, data, video, and wireless services and often looks like a mega carrier yet small and easy to find and talk to. We're always flattered when we're asked this question.

Right now our service will only be within designated service territories within the state of Indiana. We may consider expanding these calling areas if the demand is there. Who knows... keep asking us to be where you're moving! By the way - our Internet service can be accessed from anywhere in the world!
